Indians/Angels Recap
by SCBBA Secretary Debi Bruce
On Saturday, May 19, 2001, the SCBBA came out to show
our support for the Indians at Edison Field. All had a good time. It was a
close game and the Indians were able to pull it out with a 4 to 3 victory in
the 10th inning! All the Browns Backers sat in one section but there were
Cleveland fans everywhere! The stadium was quite full; could it have had
something to dowith Tim Salmon bobblehead give-away day?
Our president, Colleen Kelly-Jensen, coordinated the event and even
sweet-talked her way into the stadium early to reserve a tailgate spot under
the Big A! Reminiscent of past Browns Backers tailgate parties, there was
plenty of food and beer. We threw a football around, ate, drank and enjoyed a
great time. Many fans had Browns and Indian gear on. I am sure that the Angels
fans were quite confused, seeing Phil Miles with his "dog bone" hat
on. We threw the football around, reminiscent of past Browns Backers tailgate
parties.
Jef Bruce cooked up some very popular hot dogs & sausages on a grill
brought from home. The grill, unfortunately, did not make it home. There was
"an incident", as Kramer from Seinfeld would say. It fell out of the
truck, merging on to the 22 on-ramp. We removed it from the road of course, but
we'll need a new grill for the next tailgate party.
Jef Bruce left the game wondering, "Who IS this Rally Monkey and what does
a monkey have to do with baseball?" Maybe someone will be able to explain
this one to him! He was quite annoyed with the Rally Monkey and appalled with
what he thinks looked like the monkey being electrically prodded to get it to
jump up and down. It leaves one thinking, the traditional Cleveland Rally Cap
is just plain dull in comparison. But it seemed to work better!

Setting up for the tailgate party under the Big A.
Note the engineering marvel, the portable flag
pole prototypes!
